This change uses the updated ldap library in minio/pkg (bumped
up to v3). A new config parameter is added for LDAP configuration to
specify extra user attributes to load from the LDAP server and to store
them as additional claims for the user.
A test is added in sts_handlers.go that shows how to access the LDAP
attributes as a claim.
This is in preparation for adding SSH pubkey authentication to MinIO's SFTP
integration.
in k8s things really do come online very asynchronously,
we need to use implementation that allows this randomness.
To facilitate this move WriteAll() as part of the
websocket layer instead.
Bonus: avoid instances of dnscache usage on k8s
this helps in caching the resolved values early on, avoids
causing further resolution for individual nodes when
object layer comes online.
this can speed up our startup time during, upgrades etc by
an order of magnitude.
additional changes in connectLoadInitFormats() and parallelize
all calls that might be potentially blocking.
- remove some duplicated code
- reported a bug, separately fixed in #13664
- using strings.ReplaceAll() when needed
- using filepath.ToSlash() use when needed
- remove all non-Go style comments from the codebase

Disregard interfaces that are down when selecting bind addresses
Windows often has a number of disabled NICs used for VPN and other services.
This often causes minio to select an address for contacting the console that is on a disabled (virtual) NIC.
This checks if the interface is up before adding it to the pool on Windows.
This feature also changes the default port where
the browser is running, now the port has moved
to 9001 and it can be configured with
```
--console-address ":9001"
```
This is to ensure that there are no projects
that try to import `minio/minio/pkg` into
their own repo. Any such common packages should
go to `https://github.com/minio/pkg`
additionally also configure http2 healthcheck
values to quickly detect unstable connections
and let them timeout.
also use single transport for proxying requests
throw proper error when port is not accessible
for the regular user, this is possibly a regression.
```
ERROR Unable to start the server: Insufficient permissions to use specified port
> Please ensure MinIO binary has 'cap_net_bind_service=+ep' permissions
HINT:
Use 'sudo setcap cap_net_bind_service=+ep /path/to/minio' to provide sufficient permissions
```
It is some times common and convenient to use
just local IPs for testing purposes, 127.0.0.x
are special IPs regardless of being available on
an interface they can be bound to on all operating
systems.
Allow this behavior to work for minio server
fixes#9274
Changes in IP underneath are dynamic in replica sets
with multiple tenants, so deploying in that fashion
will not work until we wait for atleast one participatory
server to be local.
This PR also ensures that multi-tenant zone expansion also
works in replica set k8s deployments.
Introduces a new ENV `KUBERNETES_REPLICA_SET` check to call
appropriate code paths.
Fixes an issue reported by @klauspost and @vadmeste
This PR also allows users to expand their clusters
from single node XL deployment to distributed mode.
This change is related to larger config migration PR
change, this is a first stage change to move our
configs to `cmd/config/` - divided into its subsystems
While checking for port availability, ip address should be included.
When a machine has multiple ip addresses, multiple minio instances
or some other applications can be run on same port but different
ip address.
Fixes#7685
Allow server to start if one of the local nodes in docker/kubernetes setup is successfully resolved
- The rule is that we need atleast one local node to work. We dont need to resolve the
rest at that point.
- In a non-orchestrational setup, we fail if we do not have atleast one local node up
and running.
- In an orchestrational setup (docker-swarm and kubernetes), We retry with a sleep of 5
seconds until any one local node shows up.
Fixes#6995
By default when we listen on all interfaces, we print all the
endpoints that at local to all interfaces including IPv6
addresses. Remove IPv6 addresses in endpoint list to be
printed in endpoints unless explicitly specified with '--address'
This PR implements an object layer which
combines input erasure sets of XL layers
into a unified namespace.
This object layer extends the existing
erasure coded implementation, it is assumed
in this design that providing > 16 disks is
a static configuration as well i.e if you started
the setup with 32 disks with 4 sets 8 disks per
pack then you would need to provide 4 sets always.
Some design details and restrictions:
- Objects are distributed using consistent ordering
to a unique erasure coded layer.
- Each pack has its own dsync so locks are synchronized
properly at pack (erasure layer).
- Each pack still has a maximum of 16 disks
requirement, you can start with multiple
such sets statically.
- Static sets set of disks and cannot be
changed, there is no elastic expansion allowed.
- Static sets set of disks and cannot be
changed, there is no elastic removal allowed.
- ListObjects() across sets can be noticeably
slower since List happens on all servers,
and is merged at this sets layer.

Wait for remote hosts to resolve instead of failing on first host
resolution error, when running in Kubernetes or Docker environment.
Note that
- Waiting is based on exponential back-off mechanism
- If run as a binary, server fails if remote host is not resolvable
This is needed because in orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, remote
hosts are started sequentially and all the hosts are not up initially,
though they are expected to come up in a short time frame
It is difficult to identify a cap on the waiting time due to
non-deterministic nature of infrastructure platforms, so the server waits
infinitely for the hosts to come up, while logging the error messages to
the console.

It is possible at times due to a typo when distributed mode was intended
a user might end up starting standalone erasure mode causing confusion.
Add code to check this based on some standard heuristic guess work and
report an error to the user.
